From the February 19th Senate Transportation & Economic Development Appropriations Meeting
"Thank you very much, on behalf of the committee and the Senate in fact, we thank you we thank Associated Industries for making an effort, in bringing us a package. We hear a lot of whining out there, a lot of complaints, a lot of criticisms, but very few people actually come to the table and say this is what we’re suggesting and some of the issues in there we may not agree on, and most we do but a at least you’re coming to the table and we appreciate that, thank you very much, great job"...
From the February 19th ESP 2.0 Press Conference
"I want to thank Associated Industries and all the business community for working together. As Florida and the nation face a historic economic downturn, it’s promising to see private sector banding together to confront the adversity that we all have to deal with for a few years ahead of us.
These stimulus recommendations demonstrate the kind of innovative ideas and initiatives that are needed to advance Florida forward. It’s impressive that this group of dedicated business associations continue to grow and forge new ideas and aim at getting Florida back to a unified business agenda
Many of the association groups represent hundreds of thousands of individuals who are having to lay off their employees, shut down businesses and reduce their spending.
I can tell you it is happening in my district. In Hernando County especially we have seen historic high unemployment rates and it continues to grow.
Policies crafted for investment in projects and as Barney said shovel ready transportation infrastructure, maximize Florida’s limited finance resources and put many Floridians back to work while producing much needed revenue for this state.
As a Legislator I appreciate the business community’s effort to put the package together and it is a true representation of out of the box thinking that is needed to pull Florida through our economic downturn
I look forward to working with Associated Industries of course and all of Florida’s state business community in the upcoming session
Thank you" |
