“I sincerely appreciate the collaborative efforts of President King, Speaker Byrd and the entire Legislature over the past week to address issues vital to all Floridians. Workers' compensation is one of these issues, and I commend the members of the House and Senate for reaching consensus on a comprehensive reform package.

“When passed, this legislation will improve benefits for Florida’s workers while providing greater accessibility to insurance and lower rates for employers. The result will be a stronger state economy.

“The progress on this priority is encouraging and should be continued. In the original call for a special session, I limited the focus to passing a budget. In light of the work to date, I have expanded the call so the House and Senate can resolve this critical issue.”
