EXECUTIVE ORDER NUMBER 03-200

(Executive Order Calling for Special Election)

WHEREAS, Section 100.101, Florida Statutes, provides that special elections shall be held when a vacancy occurs in the office of state senator or state representative; and 

WHEREAS, a vacancy now exists in state House District 91 due to the resignation of Representative Connie Mack; and 

WHEREAS, under the provisions of Section 100.141, Florida Statutes, the Governor is obligated, after consulting with the Secretary of State, to issue an order declaring the dates the special elections are to be held; and 

NOW, THEREFORE, I, JEB BUSH, Governor of Florida, in obedience to my solemn constitutional duty to "take care that the laws be faithfully executed," and pursuant to the Constitution and laws of the State of Florida, do hereby promulgate the following Executive Order effective immediately: 

Section 1.

A special election shall be held in House District 91 to fill the vacancy that now exists in the state House of Representatives. 

Section 2.

A special primary election shall be held on January 6, 2004.  

Section 3. A special general election shall be held on January 27, 2004, to select the state representative for House District 91.

IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, I have hereunto set my hand and have caused the Great Seal of the State of Florida to be affixed at Tallahassee, the Capitol, this 21st day of October, 2003.

Due to the resignation of Representative Connie Mack (R-Ft. Lauderdale) in House District 91 the Governor has ordered a Special Election to fill the vacancy.
