SPEAKER FEENEY'S LETTER TO  REPRESENTATIVE ARGENZIANO

May 3, 2001
Source: Representative Tom Feeney,  Speaker of the Florida House of Representatives

The Honorable Nancy Argenziano
District 43
1102 The Capitol
Tallahassee, FL 32399-1300
Dear Rep. Argenziano:

I have been informed that you had delivered a box of animal waste to a lobbyist. Although you may have acted in response to inappropriate conduct by the lobbyist and I fully defend the right of any member to express his or her displeasure with the actions of a lobbyist, I cannot approve of what you have done in this instance. While I can understand that you may have felt offended by the conduct of the lobbyist, it is, nevertheless, my opinion that your response was not in keeping with the level of professionalism that House Members should strive to attain. In this regard, I would note that Rule 15.2 provides that each member should perform at all times in a manner that promotes public confidence of the House.

I would therefore admonish you to avoid any similar conduct in the future.

Sincerely,

Tom Feeney

Speaker
