AIF Statement on Commissioner McCarty
Ordering Lower Workers’ Compensation Rates for Florida

November 3, 2015

Tallahassee, Fla.Associated Industries of Florida (AIF) today released the following statement attributed to its General Counsel Tammy Perdue regarding Florida Insurance Commissioner Kevin McCarty ordering the National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) to lower workers’ compensation rates in Florida by 5.1 percent.

“As anticipated, Florida employers will see a significant drop in their workers’ compensation rates for 2016.

“We thank Commissioner McCarty for this good news yet remain vigilant in opposing litigation efforts at the Florida Supreme Court that threaten these savings and the stability of our system.

“Our current law fulfills its intent to ‘assure the quick and efficient delivery of disability and medical benefits to an injured worker and to facilitate the worker’s return to gainful reemployment at a reasonable cost to the employer.’” (F.S. 440.015)
