AIF: Florida Cannot Afford to Weaken Business Standards

April 17, 2017

Tallahassee, Fla. – The Associated Industries of Florida (AIF) today released the following statement on behalf of its Senior Vice President of State and Federal Affairs Brewster Bevis regarding its opposition to Senate Bill 1678, by Senator Rene Garcia, relating to Motor Vehicle Dealers.  SB 1678 is scheduled to be heard today in the Senate Commerce and Tourism Committee, its second committee of reference.

“AIF opposes SB 1678, as it allows government to directly interfere in contracts between two private companies.  This legislation goes against the very principle of allowing businesses to flourish in the Sunshine State.

“AIF encourages Florida lawmakers to oppose this legislation.  As the state affiliate of the National Association of Manufacturers, we simply cannot afford to weaken the standards of our business friendly environment in Florida.”

Known as “The Voice of Florida Business” in the Sunshine State, AIF has represented the principles of prosperity and free enterprise before the three branches of state government since 1920. A voluntary association of diversified businesses, AIF was created to foster an economic climate in Florida conducive to the growth, development, and welfare of industry and business and the people of the state.
