AIF Releases Roster of Endorsements for 2022 Legislative Races

Tallahassee, Fla. – The Associated Industries of Florida (AIF) today announced its roster of endorsements for legislative races in Florida.

“This year, AIF continued its long-held tradition of reviewing and speaking at length with candidates so that we can help better inform the business community about who will fight for pro-business policies and initiatives,” said AIF President and CEO Brewster Bevis. “Governor Ron DeSantis and the Legislature have built a state that businesses and people are flocking to, but we want that continue, and we believe these are the best legislative candidates to make that happen.”

The AIF Political Council interviewed more than 80 candidates over the past three months, asking them a series of questions on issues important to the business community around the state of Florida. AIF makes its endorsements based on information gleaned from these interviews and the voting records of elected officials if running for re-election or another seat, as well as their public support or opposition of business issues.

AIF does not endorse in every race. There are several races with multiple qualified candidates, and there are also races where AIF was unable to gather enough information to determine which candidate would be better on business-related issues.

“There are several races with multiple candidates that would be tremendous pro-business legislators, and we would be excited to work with any of them,” said AIF Vice President of Governmental Affairs Adam Basford.

Additionally, AIF does not endorse in races that are unopposed. In regard to this, Basford stated, “We want to congratulate all those who are already won their election or re-election without opposition, and we look forward to working with them.”

Further endorsements may be released in the future. Depending on the outcome of certain primaries and if AIF receives further information, it may make additional endorsements at a later time.

“We encourage Florida business owners to support these AIF-endorsed candidates, as they are committed to helping create an environment where businesses can continue to grow and thrive in the great state of Florida,” concluded Bevis.
