The 2017 AIF Annual Conference was recently held at the Portofino Bay Hotel at Universal Orlando. Another successful member event, participants were provided an opportunity to hear from policy makers, state candidates and business leaders on important issues of Florida’s business community.
Discussions at this year’s Conference included an update on the workers’ compensation crisis in Florida, a detailed review of the Constitution Revision Commission’s (CRC) work by a panel of four current CRC members, and a forecast of the future plans and direction of Enterprise Florida, Inc. by its newly appointed President & CEO, Pete Antonacci. Additionally, AIF members welcomed highly respected leaders State CFO Jimmy Patronis and House Speaker Richard Corcoran as they provided participants with an overview of their focus for the upcoming year. Conference attendees were also given a chance to hear from leading candidates for statewide offices in next year’s races for Attorney General, Commissioner of Agriculture and Chief Financial Officer.
The Champions for Business Awards Presentation & Reception was well attended and provided guests with an opportunity to honor several legislators for their extraordinary efforts in support of the business community. Finally, the Conference closed with a highly informative report on the political forecast from AIF’s Vice President of Political Operations, Ryan Tyson.
