Senate President Ken Pruitt and House Speaker Marco Rubio have announced a special session on the budget to begin Sept. 18.

"As we face the challenging task of reconciling our budget with the anticipated reductions in state revenues, it is imperative that we approach this task in a deliberate and methodical manner," Pruitt wrote in an e-mail to senators. "With this in mind, and in preparation for an expected Special Session beginning September 18 and running through the first week in October, I am scheduling blocks of time for appropriations committee meetings in August and September."

House Committee Block Schedule

August 27 (after the early afternoon Legislative Budget Commission meeting) through August 29, 2007 and;
September 10 (after the early afternoon Legislative Budget Commission meeting) through September 11, 2007.

Senate Committee Block Schedule

August 27 (after the early afternoon Legislative Budget Commission meeting) through August 28, 2007 and;
September 10 (after the early afternoon Legislative Budget Commission meeting) through September 11, 2007.
