“Florida’s prosperity has always been hinged on its ability to grow. By penning SB 360 into law today, Gov. Charlie Crist took an important step toward stimulating growth and the economy by cutting regulatory red tape that slows business expansion and eliminates costly and time consuming duplication. At a time when Florida needs a spark, this legislation finds a balance between protecting our state’s natural beauty and easing the regulatory burdens that have been stifling economic activity in our state.
Many of the provisions in this bill were recommended in Associated Industries of Florida’s Economic Stimulus Package 2.0, and we are pleased the Governor saw the positive impact these changes will have for our state.
Further, in a year when there was not much funding available for affordable housing, the regulatory and property tax reforms included in SB 360 will create incentives for providing citizens with more affordable housing options, which is a tremendous economic stimulus for the state in its own right.”
