Senate President-designate Mike Haridopolos, (R-Merritt Island), and Rep. Dean Cannon, (R-Winter Park), the chosen House speaker for the 2011-12 term, indicated that they will be hosting a statewide conference on job-creation next month in Orlando. The future legislative leaders indicated that tax reduction and repeal of some business regulations would be high on the agenda.
According to Senator Haridopolos and Representative Cannon, “Creating jobs will be job No. 1 for the Florida Legislature in the 2010 session, and as Florida's leaders, we must take smart and aggressive steps to provide new incentives for job creation in Florida and remove government obstacles to growth.”
Gov. Charlie Crist and members of the Florida Cabinet have been invited to participate in developing a jobs-oriented agenda for the 2010 legislative session, which convenes March 2.
Attendees will include representatives of organized labor, employers and state government agencies. AIF will be in attendance along with other organizations who have expressed interest, such as the Florida Chamber of Commerce, Florida Retail Federation, National Federation of Independent Businesses, Florida AFL-CIO and Florida Education Association.
The summit will be held on Jan. 14th & 15th at the Rosen Shingle Creek Hotel in Orlando.
