“This morning, Republican Attorney General nominee Pam Bondi visited with Florida business owners and employers at the Associated Industries of Florida headquarters in Tallahassee. Addressing the group, Bondi committed to continuing Attorney General Bill McCollum’s legacy of fighting gangs, sexual predators and drug dealers so Floridians and the business community will have a safe society in which to live and work.
As the first major business group to endorse Bondi’s candidacy back in June, we appreciate her pledge to stand up to the federal government’s reckless pursuit of healthcare reform and Card Check legislation – both of which will place undue financial burdens on the small businesses that are the backbone of Florida’s economy.
Florida doesn’t need Dan Gelber as Attorney General. If elected, he will follow in the footsteps of New York’s Eliot Spitzer and Connecticut’s Dick Blumenthal – harassing Floridians and businesses with costly and unnecessary investigations that lead to no prosecution, no convictions and no recovery to the state – all to inflate their own political ambitions. Gelber has already pledged to withdraw Florida’s challenge to ObamaCare, an unpopular and expensive nightmare for our state’s citizens and companies. His outrageous activism is further demonstrated by his threat to sue the Legislature for inadequate funding of public education, saddling Florida taxpayers with both the plaintiff and defense costs in what will be long, drawn-out and expensive litigation. Floridians simply cannot afford to elect Dan – fiscally or philosophically.
It is critical that Florida elects an Attorney General with conservative values who understands that federal mandates and frivolous litigation only hurt our businesses and crush any hope we have for returning our economy to a healthy state. Pam Bondi recognizes and appreciates the integral role the free-enterprise system plays in this equation and AIF is proud to support her as Florida’s next Attorney General.”
