This year, a dangerous measure has been included in the 2011-2012 General Appropriations Bill and requires the assistance of AIF and our members to help ensure it is vetoed by Governor Rick Scott.
AIF is partnering with the Florida Transportation Builders’ Association (FTBA) to help spearhead an online petition drive that will help encourage a gubernatorial veto of a $150 million dollar raid on the State Transportation Trust Fund. The multimillion dollar sweep of trust fund dollars will create a potential $250-million reduction in the Department of Transportation’s (FDOT) construction work program and will result in the potential elimination of more than 7,000 Florida jobs.
Signing the online petition only takes a moment of your time. You can sign the petition by clicking this link: http://bit.ly/veto-transportation-raid. Once you sign the petition, you will be able to share it with your various colleagues and contacts via Facebook, Twitter or email. In addition, AIF is strongly encouraging its members to write Governor Scott in opposition to this raid. It is very important that Florida’s business community reach out and express their support of the state’s Transportation Trust Fund. In an effort to assist you in crafting a letter to the Governor, a copy of FTBA’s letter of opposition can be found by navigating the link below.

Gov. Scott has pledged to create jobs but these transportation funding cuts will only reduce Florida’s workforce and add to the state’s significant backlog of infrastructure improvements and widespread congestion problems. Do your part to support Gov. Scott in this effort and let him know “I’m a Floridian and I Support Your Veto of the Transportation Trust Fund Raid!”
