“Florida manufacturers have reason to celebrate today. A product of the Governor’s commitment to making Florida a premiere business destination, this bill signed into law today recognizes that an investment in Florida’s manufacturing industry is an investment in job creation and economic growth.
With the nation on the brink of a manufacturing resurgence, clearing away the financial burden of a sales tax few states choose to charge puts Florida on a level playing field, enabling us to better compete with other Gulf states and move Florida beyond the national average in terms of manufacturing jobs. Providing this tax relief to manufacturers will also create a domino effect, benefitting additional industries and individuals around the state as the manufacturing sector creates three indirect jobs for every direct one.
As the state affiliate for the National Association of Manufacturers, the elimination of sales tax on the purchase of manufacturing machinery and equipment was a top priority for Associated Industries of Florida because we know it will help propel Florida forward, positioning our state as a national and international leader in manufacturing.
We applaud Gov. Scott for his continued support of business and industry in Florida, and for pursuing policies that show companies all around the world that Florida is a great place to do business.”
