STRONG BIPARTISAN SUPPORT FOR EXTENDING ENHANCED PREMIUM HEALTHCARE TAX CREDITS

Tallahassee, Fla. – The Associated Industries of Florida (AIF) Center for Political Strategy today announced new polling results showing overwhelming bipartisan support for extending enhanced premium healthcare tax credits to help Florida small business owners afford healthcare coverage.

More than one-third of small business owners in Florida purchase their own healthcare coverage. The enhanced premium healthcare tax credit that helps many of these Florida small business owners is set to expire at the end of this year, and voters overwhelmingly agree that Congress should extend the tax credits to help Floridians afford healthcare coverage.

Key findings include:

  • Strong Statewide Support:  Seventy-nine percent (79%) of voters support extending the tax credits, including over half (51%) who say they “strongly approve.”
  • Overwhelming Bipartisan Support: Support for extending the tax credits garners strong support across party lines – 81% of Republicans, 83% of Democrats, and 70% of Independents.
  • Demographic Support: Extending the enhanced premium healthcare tax credits has broad majority support across all races and ethnicities – 81% of white voters, 76% of Black voters, and 75% of Hispanic voters.
  • Regional Strength: The tax credits break 75% approval across all media markets in Florida, including 90% in the hyper-conservative Ft. Myers media market, 83% in the Orlando media market, 79% in the Tampa and Jacksonville media markets, and 75% in the Miami media market.
  • Support by Age: Extending the tax credits earns majority support across all age brackets including 86% of seniors and 51% of voters under 30.
  • Trump/Harris Support: Strong majorities also exist amongst Trump and Harris voters for extending the tax credits – 79%  of Trump voters and 83% of Harris voters approve of the measure.

“In today’s hyper-partisan political climate, there are very few things that both Trump and Harris voters agree on: extending the enhanced premium healthcare tax credits to help Florida small business owners is one of them. The results clearly show that Florida voters overwhelmingly support extending the tax credits, recognizing the importance of helping Florida businesses afford healthcare coverage,” said AIF Vice President of Political Operations Jeremy Sheftel.

The AIF Center for Political Strategy has been closely monitoring Florida electoral trends through regular statewide polling, strategic legislative district polling, and focus groups throughout the state. For additional information on AIF’s Center for Political Strategy, visit aif.com/political.

METHODOLOGY: The poll consisted of 800 likely 2026 general election voters in Florida and was conducted August 25-27, 2025, by McLaughlin & Associates. Interviews were collected via landlines, cell phones, and SMS/text-to-web. The margin of error is +/- 3.5% at a 95% confidence interval. Percentages may not equal 100% due to rounding.
